National Webinar On How Yoga Therapy And Music Affect People Organised By Department Of Music, GCW Udhampur

To Mark World Music Day cum International Yoga Day, Department of Music, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a National webinar on the topic “How Yoga Therapy and music affect people” under Azaadi Ka Amri Mahotsav- campaign under the theme of ‘Unity’ and G20 presidency on June 21, 2023.
Principal of the College Prof Anjali Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion. While Assistant Professor in Music Ms. Shivani Raina Government Degree College Bishnah was the resource person of the webinar.
Principal of the host College, Prof Anjali Mahajan lauded the efforts of the Music Department for organizing the national webinar. She urged for holding more such programmes in near future in the institutions for the benefit of music students as well as faculties.
Resource person Prof. Shivani Raina gave a detailed lecture cum practical demonstration on the above said topic. She talked about the relationship between yoga and music. She said that music assumes a vital part in each human life because overwhelming work weight, mental stress, anxiety, people listen music for relaxing their mind. Music increase the metabolic activities with the human body, She added.
Prof. Shivani further said that Yoga is like music, the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and harmony of the soul create the symphony of life. She also gave brief about the various Raags used in the Indian Classical.
Later, Programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Head of Department Music Dr. Seema Sharma.
The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Assistant Professor Mrs. Shallu Jasrotia besides Assistant Professor Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Assistant Professor Yash Kumar coordinated the National Webinar.
Among others, HoD Zoology Dr. Sanjeet Kour, HoD Botany, Ashni Devi, Assistant Professor Botany Dr. Kewal Kumar, Assistant Professor Geography Pooja Bharti, Assistant Professor Music Dr. Sanjay Kumar, senior faculty members and large number of participants were also present in the webinar.
