Motivation Cum Awareness Campaign Launched By GCW Udhampur On National Blood Donor Day.

Heritage Club in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club under the aegis of J&K AIDS control Society, Government College for Women Udhampur on October 01, 2022 organized a motivation cum awareness campaign in the college campus with the theme “DONATING BLOOD IS AN ACT OF SOLIDARITY, JOIN THE EFFORT AND SAVE LIVES” Prof. Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest on this moment.
In her address, Dr. Monika Sharma while addressing the participants emphasized that nothing is comparable to the preciousness of human blood. In spite of the rapid and remarkable advancement of medical science today, there is no laboratory that manufactures blood. It is only in human beings that human blood is made and circulated. Hence voluntary donation is the only way of accumulating blood at safe storage to meet the emergency requirements for saving lives. She also motivated the staff and students to donate blood as they themselves might be using the same during their own emergency need.
The entire campaign was accomplished in three sessions, In the morning session Staff and students took blood donation pledge in which around 500 students and 50 staff members participated. In the second session, In the afternoon a lecture on “IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD DONATION” was organized where Prof.Ashni Devi [HOD BOTONY] was chief resource person. While addressing the gathering Ms. Ashni said that millions of people owe their lives to the people whom they will never know or meet in their lifetime. They are none other than those people, who have donated their blood freely and without any reward-Voluntary blood Donors. Blood is required for treatment of accidental injuries, burns, Diseases like Hemorrhagic, Anamemia, Leukemias, Thalassemia and Hemolytic ailments. Unavailability of blood may cost lives. Hence, Importance of blood donation is tremendous, She Added. In the third and last session all the students and staff members formed a human circle chain in solidarity to send the message for universal need of blood donation.
