Group Discussion On The Topic “Gandhiji’s Contribution In Indian Education”

The Department of Education, Government College Udhampur organized Group Discussion
on the topic “Gandhiji’s contribution in Indian Education” as a part of Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations
being held in the College campus on September 25,2023 under the supervision of Prof. Roopa
Kumari, Head, Department of Education. Principal of the college Prof. Anjali Mahajan was the chief
guest on the occasion.
The formal welcome note and proceedings of the program was presented by Prof. Roopa
Kumari, HOD Education wherein she welcomed the worthy chief Guest and introduced the audience
and participants about the theme of the group discussion. Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal of the
college while addressing on the occasion, underlined significant contribution of Gandhiji in
Education and its relevance in the present scenario.
More than 60 students have attended the session and 15 students of the college have
participated in the Group discussion and express their views on the Gandhiji’s contribution in
education and Basic education Scheme or Wardha Scheme of Education given by Gandhiji’s in 1937
and its relevance in present scenario . In the Group Discussion first prize was bagged by Supriya of
Semester 5 th ,Second prize was bagged by Samreeti Thakur of Semester 5 th and Third prize was given to
Nisha of Semester 5 th .Besides Sapna Devi of semester 5 th and Gunn Manhas of Semester 3 rd were given
consolation prizes. The group discussion was judged by the panel comprising Prof. Jugal Kishore
(Asstt. Prof. of Maths), Dr. Usha Sharma ( HOD Sociology) and Dr. Sushma Choudhary (HOD
Dogri).
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Rukhsana Khousar. Dr. Rohi Fayaz,
Lecturer, was also present on the occasion.
